According to the legend, it was Queen Bona, who named this little town by the name of Latowicz. She had her mansion there. She liked the neighbourhood very much and used to spend her summer holidays there.
The mansion was surrounded by great ponds. The queen, who wanted to create a substitute of Italy in Latowicz, furnished the ponds with a peculiar breed of frogs. Their were famous for incredibly noisy croaking. People of Latowicz could not stand the noise and they complained to the queen, but she did not to listen to their pleas.
These were storks, that saved Latowicz and its inhabitants. The birds heard noisy croaking and came for a feast. They ate all the noisy Italian frogs. From this day, people of Latowicz take care of all the storks in the region.
