Programme for conservation of the White Stork and its habitats has been carried out by the Polish Society of Wildlife Friends "pro Natura" since 1994. The main aim of the project is to secure places for White storks to live and breed in.

White Stork is one of the biggest Polish birds and it has become the symbol of the country. Although Polish population of White Stork is the most numerous in the world, the number of these birds is decreasing.

This is why proNatura Society concentrates on protecting existing habitats and creating new stork-friendly areas. Over 4 thousand stork nests have been reconstructed. Moreover, every year stork lovers do the national counting of white stork.
